About the conference
In the Statement of the Government, the Government in Sweden announced the need to develop a national innovation strategy. Through this conference, on the theme clusters and innovation, we want to contribute to the discussion of how a national innovation strategy can help to develop links between the regional, national and international level.
Our focus at the conference is to bring together politicians and officials, innovation agencies, cluster leaders and representatives from universities and colleges for a dialogue about how to jointly contribute to developing regions.
Background
The three swedish regions Dalarna, Värmland and Gävleborg have been working together for three years in a unique European Union-project by the name SLIM (System Management for Innovative Platforms and Cluster Organisations in Northern Central Sweden).
The project is about developing cluster organizations as a tool to enhance commercialization of research and to create innovations and new jobs. In the month of june 2011 the project won the prestigious award of the European Commission, Regio Stars Award, in the category of Regional competitiveness – To predict economic change.
